Pupils participated in a drawing competition with designs based on purple crocuses donated by Rotary Club of Altrincham; part of the Purple4Polio campaign of EndPolioNow. The artwork from the 8 finalists from year 5 and 6 was selected as the basis of the design. A species of bee called the Purple Orchid was the inspiration for the Purple Crocus Bee.
