Name: Phil Constable
Location: Mackie Mayor, Coop Street
Artist: Phil Constable
Phil was inspired by being able to display outside of the conventional art gallery setting and to an audience that might not find it natural going to an art gallery or consider buying original art from artists.
Born in Canterbury, Kent, 1971, Phil Constable graduated with BA (hons) Fine Art from Liverpool John Moore’s University in 1995. He then studied further and received his MA Creative Technology at the University of Salford in 1998. Phil is interested in how space and objects hold memories that continue through time. His work is driven by the ghosts of the past, whether an empty high rise flat, a path in the woods or family photo. Engaging with these spaces, objects and histories to create a visual response. Phil Constable has been working as an artist for over twenty years. His work expands from site-specific installation in New York to moving image light installations in London. Phil is now creating work as a commercial artist represented by Comma Ca Arts, Manchester and KIN Gallery, Manchester. to find out more visit philconstable.co.uk
