Creating Community

The Details

Name: Creating Community

Location: Chapel Wharf, opposite Lowry Hotel

Artist: Tim Denton

Description

Much of Tim Denton’s work revolves around the theme of placemaking and objects which encourage and nurture our sense of community and belonging. The inspiration for the giant drawing pantograph at Chapel Wharf is derived from Dandara Living’s shared interest in exploring this theme, and the family connections, friendships and other relationships which create the communities we live, laugh, love and work in.

The display features an interactive aspect where members of the public can be hand drawn by Tim or artists he work with. See schedule here: Tim Denton 50 Windows Schedule.

Dates and times may be subject to change, follow Tim on social media for latest updates.

The Artist -Tim Denton

Tim Denton is a Manchester based artist and maker specialising in the design and production of bespoke furniture, spaces and structures. Tim has partnered with Dandara Living at Chapel Wharf for the 50 Windows project to create portraits via a giant pantograph, which uses a series of levers to simultaneously transfer the portraits Tim will draw on the window to a piece of paper. Tim has also invited other Manchester-based artists to operate the machine, and visitors to the Chapel Wharf window will have the opportunity to photograph their pantograph portrait as a memento.
