Design Inspiration

Taking inspiration from Manchester, the design celebrates the cityscape under a rainbow bee: silver eyes reflect those who look at it and the surroundings of the sculpture (and nod towards the Manchester nightlife!). The rainbow references an inclusive and welcoming city and its communities, whilst the skyline’s iconic buildings connect today with the Gothic architecture of the past.

Mace is a British consultancy and construction company, founded and built on exceptional people, a commitment to service excellence and an entrepreneurial spirit. It has been part of Manchester’s history for over 25 years and has worked on some iconic projects including Manchester Town Hall, the Etihad Stadium and Manchester Metrolink.

The Artist -Celine Elliott

After spending over a decade working with community groups and young people on creative projects, Celine's practice combines an education from Manchester School of Arts (Interactive Arts) with Youth & Community Work experience. Creating pieces that are inclusive and celebratory, accessible and enjoyable, with colour and character are at the heart of Celine's work. Often working in consultation or collaboration with groups, Celine believes that everyone has the capability to create moving and meaningful art. Celine believes art is central to the cityscape - whether it's in the gallery or on the street - Manchester, as her hometown with it's wealth of creativity, forms the inspiration for her creative practice and career to date. @chebrava
