Name: The Original Worker Bee
Designed and decorated by: Jodie Silverman
Sponsor: Manchester City Council
For over 150 years Manchester’s much-loved bee emblem has symbolised the industrious and energetic spirit of Manchester and its people. Worker bees pull together for the common good of their community. This cheerful-looking character has a special place in the Bee in the City hive. The first sculpture to be designed, this true ‘original’ did a great job encouraging businesses and people to get involved and ‘bee’ creative for Manchester.
Building on Manchester’s international reputation for innovation in the arts, Manchester City Council has worked with Wild in Art to present this special summer -long event in the city. Whether you live in the city or are just visiting, follow the buzz and bee inspired.
