Name: Blue Bee-ter
Designed and decorated by: Jodie Silverman
Sponsor: BBC Radio Manchester, Blue Peter and Peel Media Ltd
Not all bees are yellow and black – bee-lieve it or not, blue bees really do exist! The Blue Peter Bee is inspired by the blue carpenter bee, found in Southeast Asia, India and China. Images of bee-friendly plants cover the base to raise awareness of bee conservation, decorated by Year 6 pupils from St Andrew’s C.E. Primary School in Boothstown.
Standing on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, on what was Salford’s thriving inland port during the 19th century, this Bee symbolises our forefathers’ industrious and revolutionary spirit which put the city on the world map. Today a new, creative and digital revolution is taking place at MediaCityUK, pollinating progress and renewal.
