This Bee brings a bit of bling to brighten the city – come rain or shine! Its mirrored, mosaic surface will literally reflect the daily life of the city. Viewers and the Bee will appear to be one and the same. The contrast between a shimmering, ghostly appearance and an ‘armoured’ surface highlights the plight of the bees which need protection from adverse impacts on their natural environment.
Manchester Central is an award-winning iconic venue with meeting spaces of all shapes and sizes. It hosts a huge range of events from political party conferences and gala dinners to exhibitions for food, film and travel fans, and has even been the set for television shows like X factor and Ninja Warrior.
Jayne Ford is an award-winning designer-maker working predominantly with glass. She came to Manchester to study in the 1990s and considers it her spiritual home, staying on in the city to establish a stained-glass studio.
