Name: Bee-yond Expectations
Designed and decorated by: Wild Portrait Artist.
Sponsor: Henshaws: Bee funded by the NHS
This sculpture allows people to admire the Bee in incredible detail. Its multisensory elements, use of tactile and reflective surfaces as well as audio description, enables people with sensory impairments to experience the Bee for themselves. It has been developed with visually impaired people involved in the design process; demonstrating how appreciation and access to the arts does not have to be hindered by sight loss.
Henshaws has been helping people with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to achieve their ambitions and go beyond perceived expectations since 1837. The charity works with visually impaired people of all ages, from children to adults, across Greater Manchester. It offers bespoke packages of support with activities tailored to meet the needs of each individual.
