Name: 80 Years Around the World
Designed and decorated by: Mik Richardson.
Sponsor: Manchester Airport Group and Airport City Manchester
This design represents Greater Manchester’s global links, in terms of trade, tourism, culture, sport and the personal connections many people from the region have across the world. The theme is fitting given the Bee’s location at Manchester Airport, which has routes to more than 220 global destinations. It’s also a nod to the airport’s 80th birthday in 2018, with the Bee portraying Phileas Fogg, the famous fictional explorer from the Jules Verne novel ‘Around the World in 80 Days’.
Manchester Airport’s the UK’s global gateway in the North, offering flights to more than 220 destinations worldwide, ranging from China, Hong Kong and Singapore, to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston. It is also the location for Airport City Manchester, a 5 million sq ft development of offices, hotels, advanced manufacturing and logistics space, perfectly positioned for the UK, Europe and the world. A place to embrace a changing future.
