As part of Wild in Art and Manchester City Council’s Windows of Youth Creativity: We Made It!, a breakdance throw-down is on at Manchester’s new Mayfield Park this Friday 28 October, in partnership with Breaking GB and Break Dance Manchester.
Throughout the day, amateur dancers will engage in a 2v2 breakdance format, battling it out between 1-4pm for a £200 cash prize.
The audience will also enjoy two special dance battle exhibitions from breakdance professionals.
Boy EVO, a dancer with a global legacy from Manchester, will be making an appearance as a special guest judge.
Final registration for the 2v2 amateur battle can be done on arrival to the park at 12:30pm.
The event comes one week before Manchester shots the breakdancing European Championships on 5-6 November. The sport’s top athletes will compete before they attend the 2024 Summer Games in Paris – the first time breakdancing will be in the Olympics.
The event is free to attend on 28 October 1-4pm at Mayfield Park, Manchester.
